The cottage / property is very very private! Lots of trees & space separate each cottage! Many guests even say it feels like you're on your very own a private island. That being said, there are neighbouring cottages in their own very private location, sound can carry very easily on calm days/evenings with no wind. We simply ask guests to always be respectful of noise level, and we encourage the same from the nearby cottages.

Yes! Beechwood Nature Stays is family-friendly and a wonderful place for children to enjoy nature, explore, and make lasting memories. However, due to the waterfront location and outdoor features, parental supervision is required at all times.
Important Safety Considerations for Families:
• The cottage is located directly on a lake, so children must always be supervised near the water.
• The wraparound deck has multiple sets of stairs, including a large staircase leading toward the lake and an additional step down to access the hot tub area.
• There is a man-made pond between the cottage and the lake. This pond is for viewing pleasure only—it is strictly prohibited to walk in, swim, or throw rocks into it. Children must not be left unsupervised near the pond.
• The hot tub is for guest use only, and children must be supervised at all times if using or being near the hot tub.
• The fire pit and waterfront area are accessed by stone steps, requiring caution when navigating with young children.
While the cottage is a fantastic place for families, parents and guardians must always supervise children near the lake, pond, hot tub, and fire pit to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. If you have any questions about bringing kids, feel free to reach out!
No, the cottage is not wheelchair accessible due to multiple steps and uneven terrain throughout the property.
Here’s what to expect in terms of accessibility:
• Entrance & Deck: There are steps leading up onto the deck, which provides access to the cottage entrance.
• Wraparound Deck & Hot Tub Area: The deck wraps around the cottage and includes a large set of stairs at the front leading down toward the lake. Additionally, there is one step down on the deck to access the hot tub area.
• Fire Pit & Waterfront Access: A set of stone steps leads down toward the waterfront and fire pit area.
Due to these features, guests with mobility limitations may find the cottage challenging to navigate. If you have specific accessibility concerns, feel free to reach out, and we’d be happy to provide more details to help assess if the space will work for you.
If a Nova Scotia fire ban is in effect, all outdoor wood fires are strictly prohibited, including fires in our designated lakeside fire pit. This is a government-issued restriction for public safety, and it’s enforced across the province.
⚠️ Please note: If a fire is made during a ban, guests may be subject to fines of up to $25,000, as set by the Nova Scotia government.
The fire ban status is updated daily around 2 p.m. and can change based on weather conditions. You can check the current burn restrictions here:
